This Privacy Policy describes how The Movie Shelf ("we," "our," or "us"), registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK: 42112757), collects, uses, and protects your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming - AVG).

(Note: We never view, collect, or store your credit card numbers or banking credentials. All payments are processed through certified, PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment gateways)

  1. Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): To process your payment, pack your items, generate shipping labels, and communicate delivery updates.

  3. Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): To prevent fraudulent orders and resolve customer service inquiries.

Third-Party Service Providers (Sub-Processors)

To operate our storefront and fulfill your orders, we securely share necessary data with trusted service providers:

  • E-Commerce Hosting: Big Cartel (hosts our catalog and captures your order checkout details).
  • Payment Gateways: Stripe / PayPal / Apple Pay / iDeal (securely authorizes and processes payments).
  • Carriers & Logistics: DHL eCommerce, PostNL, and their respective destination partners (receives your recipient name, address, and email to generate parcel labels, schedule delivery, and send tracking notifications).
  • Tax & Bookkeeping: Dutch Tax Authorities (Belastingdienst) and our bookkeeping tools (to satisfy European VAT reporting and statutory record-keeping).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third-party marketing entities.

Data Retention

  • Order and Invoicing Data: Maintained for 7 years in compliance with the mandatory statutory record-keeping obligation imposed by the Dutch Tax Authority (Rijksbelastingdienst administratieplicht).
  • Customer Inquiries: Retained for up to 12 months following resolution to handle any subsequent product or warranty questions.
